My Android and Gmail Are Not Syncing Automatically

Sync Settings

The Gmail sync settings on your DROID control the frequency that your phone connects to your Gmail account. The sync settings may be accessed by pressing the 'Settings' Icon on your home screen and selecting the 'Accounts' option. You can elect to sync books, contacts, Gmail and your Google Calendar by selecting your Gmail account and checking the boxes next to each item that you would like to sync. Unchecked items on this screen will not be synced.

Data Saver

The Data Saver option limits the amount of data that your phone sends and can be used to monitor data usage on limited data plans. The Data Saver option is available under the 'Settings' icon on your home screen under the 'Battery& data manager' option. Check the options to turn off the Data Saver feature and enable Data in the 'Data Delivery' menu.

Power Control Widget

The 'Power Control' widget controls your phone's Bluetooth, auto-dimming and refresh settings. The refresh button is shaped like two arrows shaped in a continuous circle. Press the refresh button to sync Gmail to your DROID phone and refresh any other Internet functions. The widget can be added to any of your home screens by pressing and holding your finger on the background of your home screen and selecting the 'Power Control' widget from the list of DROID widgets.

Server Error

Google's Gmail servers can also cause problems when syncing to your DROID. Server errors must be resolved by Google and must be waited out. The Google support forums provide an outlet for users to notify Google of potential errors and server outages when they happen and can also provide information on bug fixes and workarounds to known errors.
