How to Remove Trojan Horse Backdoor Generic9.Axzs
1. Install an anti-virus program such the free AVG, AntiVir, or Avast, or a paid program like McAfee or Norton. Run the program and follow the installation procedures. If an anti-virus program is already installed on the computer, update its detection files.
2. Clear any temporary Internet files stored by the computer's Internet browser(s). Temporary Internet files can be cleared in Firefox by selecting 'Tools' on the menu bar, followed by 'Options.' In the privacy tab of the box that appears, check the box to clear the history when Firefox closes. To delete temporary Internet files in Internet Explorer 8, select 'Tools' on the menu bar, then 'Internet Options.' Then, in the General tab, click the 'Delete' button in Browsing History. In the window that opens, ensure the box for Temporary Internet Files is checked, then click the 'Delete' button again.
3. Restart the computer in Safe Mode. In Windows, do this by clicking the 'Start' menu, then selecting 'Shutdown' or 'Turn off Computer.' Select 'Restart' from the list that appears. Once the computer reboots, repeatedly press the 'F8' key until brought to a menu screen.
4. Select 'Safe Mode' from the list. The computer will restart in Safe Mode. Generic9 can be difficult to remove during standard computer operation, as the Trojan will run in silent, invisible programs in the background. Most anti-virus programs will not allow files to be deleted while they are being used by a running process. Safe Mode will not let programs run in the background, so Generic9 can be fully removed.
5. Open the anti-virus software and begin a scan.
6. Delete the malicious programs found by the anti-virus software. Quarantining the files is another common option, but deleting dangerous programs like Trojan horses outright is suggested.
7. Reboot the computer normally.
8. Run another system scan with the anti-virus software once the computer is running in Normal Mode.
