How to Install the Swype App on a Droid

1. Go to the Swype website at SwypeInc.com, and click on 'MySwype' at the top-right corner of the page.

2. Click on 'Swype Beta' in the menu on the left of the screen, and click on 'Register.'

3. Register for a Swype account using an email address you can access via your Droid phone.

4. Open the Swype beta email on your phone, and click the first link in the email to go to the beta installer page. If the page loads and nothing begins after a few moments, click the link to download the installer manually.

5. Tap on 'Swype-Installer.apk' from the download history menu when the file has finished downloading.

6. Tap 'Install' to begin installing the program. If a window pops up that says 'Install Blocked,' tap on 'Settings' and check the option marked 'Unknown Sources.' Then tap 'OK' to go back to the download history to re-attempt installation.

7. Press 'Open' after the application is installed. If an update is available, you will be taken to a screen with an 'Update' button, which you must download to use Swype. To update, simply tap 'Update.'

8. Tap on 'Login' and enter the email address and password you used to register with Swype Beta. Press 'Login.'

9. Select the version of Swype you wish to download, and then press 'Download Swype.' Installation may take a few moments.

10. Press 'Install' when prompted and allow the program a moment to install. When finished, press 'Done.'

11. Start the 'Swype' app and press 'Enable Swype' when prompted.

12. Check the box next to 'Swype' in the 'Text Settings' menu and press 'OK' when prompted.

13. Press the 'Back' softkey on your Droid to back out to the main menu on the Swype app, and press 'Select Swype.'

14. Select 'Swype' when prompted to select an input method.

15. Select 'Finish' when offered the option to 'Watch video,' 'Start Tutorial' or 'Finish,' unless you wish to use the other two options. Swype will now be installed and ready to use for text input on your Droid.
