How to Use a Droid As a Television Remote

1. Open your Droid's application launcher and tap on the 'Market' icon. Tap the 'Search' button with the magnifying glass icon. Type in the name of your set-top box or DVR. For example, type: 'Tivo.' Press Enter.

2. Tap on the search result with the remote application for your device. Press the button under 'Install,' then tap 'Accept' to confirm the permissions for the app on your Droid. Wait for the application to download and install onto your phone.

3. Open the new application on your Droid. It will search for a server. If you haven't set one up on your set-top box, you will need to do so now. Follow the instructions from the manufacturer to enable the remote server. Once the Droid app is connected to the set-top box, you can control your TV with your Droid phone.
