How to Connect an Android to Outlook

1. Go to the Home screen on your Android phone and tap the 'Android Market' icon. Tap on the 'Gmail' hyperlink and enter your user account information. Then tap the 'Sign In' button to log on to Android Market. Type the keywords 'Outlook Sync' in the text box near the top of the display screen. Tap the magnifying glass (search button) when you're done.

2. Scroll down the list of software applications until you see one that you want to download. Look for free software applications such as Android Sync Manager, Outlook Reflex and HTC Sync Manager that you can use to connect Outlook with your Android phone. If you decide to purchase a software application from Android Market, make certain that you have your credit card information handy to complete the online transaction.

3. Tap the 'Install' button after you have found an application that you want to use. Then tap the 'OK' button to confirm that you want to download the application on your phone.

4. Tap on the Outlook sync icon that you just installed on your phone. Keep in mind, the user instructions for various types of Outlook synchronization software for Android phones can vary.

5. Tap on the 'Sync Settings' button. Tick the check boxes next to each item that you want to sync with your Android phone, such as your personal contacts and calendar events folders. Tap the 'Save' button when you're done.

6. Go back to the 'Home' screen on your phone. Select 'Menu' and then select 'Settings' and 'Applications.' Select the check box next to 'USB Debugging' to enable the option.

7. Close Microsoft Outlook. Check to make certain that the application is not open and running on your computer. Plug the USB cable that came with your Android phone into an open USB port on your computer. Windows will automatically detect the device. Click on the 'Synchronize Now' button.

8. Wait until the synchronization process is complete. Unplug your Android phone from your computer.
