How to Update an Android G1

1. Connect the phone to the PC by USB, then select 'USB Connected,' then 'Mount' from the drop-down menu. Open the SD card storage, which is displayed in My Computer as 'Removable Disk.' Download the update and copy it to the SD card.

2. Rename the zip file: 'update.zip.' Unmount the phone from USB and turn it off. Hold down the 'Home' key while turning on the phone. This boots the recovery mode.

3. Wait for the recovery mode to finish loading, then press 'Alt+L.' Press 'Alt+S' to flash update.zip. The updating process may take up to an hour and require reboots, so follow any prompts for user action that come up.
