How to Get Podcasts on Your Android Phone

1. Use Listen by Google Labs. This free software is designed to allow Android users to download and listen to podcasts on their phones. Only English-speaking podcasts are available as of May 2011, but you can search for and subscribe to podcasts using the app. Once you have chosen which programs to subscribe to, Listen creates an audio magazine with shows to listen to and related news stories to keep you entertained.

2. Download iTunes Agent. This free software will enable you to access your iTunes library from your phone, as well as download and listen to podcasts. You will need a PC with the .Net Framework 2.0 or later installed for this application to work. Once you have installed the software, it runs on your desktop looking for devices that are attempting to connect with iTunes. Once iTunes Agent connects to a device, it copies playlists and podcasts over to the device for you to listen to later.

3. Utilize DoggCatcher. A podcast organizer, this app lets you find, download and store podcasts. It also gives you recommendations based on your existing podcast subscriptions and can play video formats supported by Android phones. Once you have installed DoggCatcher and subscribed to your feeds, the app updates them automatically so you don't have to transfer the podcasts from your computer. As of May 2011, this app costs $7.99 from the DoggCatcher website.
