How to Back Up Voice Mail With an Android Application
1. Unlock your Android phone and open the application launcher. Tap the 'Market' icon and then press the magnifying glass to launch the search bar. Type in the name of the voice mail app that you want to use. Some options are Google Voice, YouMail and Visual Voicemail. Tap the name of the app and then touch 'Download.' Tap 'Accept and Download' to begin installing the app to your phone. Tap 'Open' when you're finished.
2. Set up Google Voice by browsing to voice.google.com on your computer. Follow the instructions on the site to create a new account. You can choose to set up just a voice mail account or to route all of your calls through a new Google Voice number -- using a Google Voice number offers different call-forwarding options, if you want them. Set up the Google Voice account with the same Google log-in as you use on your Android phone. Using the Google Voice app on your phone, set the voice mail and call settings that you want -- for example, set Google Voice to handle all incoming and outgoing calls. Now your voice mail will be backed up and accessible at voice.google.com.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions for Visual Voicemail to create an account through the application. After you've created your account, forward any missed or ignored calls to 813-200-0200 by following the instructions from your cell phone provider. Your voice mails will be transcribed and backed up at the PhoneFusion site. You can access your voice mails through the app on your Android phone.
4. Press the 'Menu' button when you launch YouMail and then tap 'Help.' Touch 'Forward to YouMail' and then press 'Yes.' YouMail will automatically set up your phone to forward missed and ignored calls to YouMail and then transcribe and backup the voice mails automatically.
