Sioux Chief Shower Drain Installation
1. Unscrew the shower drain strainer from the shower drain body with a screwdriver.
2. Pry the shower drain strainer cover from the shower drain strainer with a small flat-tip screwdriver, prying gently to avoid damage to the cover finish.
3. Apply a bead of pure silicone sealant to the underside of the drain strainer flange lip.
4. Slide the shower drain strainer into the shower pan drain hole while pushing down slightly. This method keeps the shower drain strainer in place during installation.
5. Slide the rubber sealing gasket onto the drain strainer threads on the underside of the shower drain pan; slide the paper friction gasket on next. The friction washer prevents damage to the rubber sealing gasket.
6. Apply a light to medium coat of plumber's polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE, thread sealant paste to the drain strainer threads.
7. Screw the shower drain body onto the shower drain strainer threads and tighten with large pliers.
8. Wipe excess silicone from the top of the shower drain strainer with a rag. Allow the silicone sealant to dry according to the silicone manufacturer's drying time on the product label.
9. Connect the shower drain waste piping to the shower drain. Solvent weld the piping into the shower drain using PVC primer and PVC cement. Allow the PVC primer and cement to dry according to the manufacturer's drying times.
10. Turn on the shower faucet; allow the water to flow over and into the shower drain for several minutes.
11. Check for leaks around the rubber sealing gasket and the solvent weld joint.
