How to Test Android Apps on a Computer Without Eclipse
1. Download and install the latest version of Java, if it isn’t already installed on your system.
2. Download and unpack the latest version of the Android SDK.
3. Open the Android SDK directory and launch the “SDK Setup” program.
4. Select the Android system version that you want to test apps on from the list of available SDKs.
5. Click “Install.' Click “Install” again to confirm. The Android SDK will download and install. Close the “SDK Setup” program.
6. Launch the “AVD Manager” program.
7. Click the “New' button on the right side of the AVD Manager window.
8. Enter a name for the virtual device in the “Name” box.
9. Select an Android system from the “Target” menu.
10. Enter a virtual device image size in the “Size” box. This size is how much storage space the virtual device will have.
11. Click the “Create AVD” button.
12. Select the virtual device that you created and click “Start.”
13. Read the user agreement and click “Proceed.” The virtual Android device will load in the emulator and begin booting.
14. Click on the browser icon to launch the Android Web browser. With the browser, search for and download the Android app package files that you wish to test.
