How to Change a Boot Animation Android

1. Connect your phone to your computer and copy a downloaded boot animation (in the standard 'bootanimation.zip' format) to your MicroSD card. Custom animations can be downloaded from many Android enthusiast websites and forums, or even made from scratch for those with extensive graphics knowledge. Alternately, you can download the file directly to your phone's MicroSD card slot using the Android Web browser.

2. Unplug your phone from your computer if it is still connected. Turn on your phone and press the 'Home' button. Open the Application Drawer and tap your root-enabled file explorer.

3. Navigate to the SD card folder where you saved your custom animation. Tap and hold 'bootanimation.zip,' then tap 'copy.' Tap 'Up,' '/' or '...' and return to the top directory in the file explorer.

4. Activate the 'read/write' or 'RW' feature, if your file explorer app requires it. Tap 'system,' then 'media.' Tap and hold 'bootanimation.zip' (this is your current boot animation file) and tap 'rename.' Name the file 'bootanimation.old' to disable the animation without removing it, or tap and hold the file and tap 'delete' to completely remove it.

5. Press the 'Menu' button, then tap 'paste.' Restart your phone to see your custom boot animation in action.
