How to Draw Logos in Photoshop

1. Open Adobe Photoshop and click 'File.' Click the 'New' option and type 'MyLogo' into the 'Name' box. Set the dimensions for the logo in the 'Width' and 'Height' boxes, such as '4' for each. Select 'inches' from the drop-down menus for each. Pull down the 'Background Contents' menu and click 'Transparent.' Click 'OK' and Photoshop opens a gray-and-white checkerboard workspace.

2. Select the first color for the logo by clicking the top-left square of the 'Color Picker,' the two overlapping colored boxes at the bottom of the 'Tools' column. Choose the main logo color and click 'OK.'

3. Click the 'Brush' tool on the 'Tools' column -- it looks like a paintbrush. Draw the main logo, such as an abstract design, easily recognized shape or something that represents the organization.

4. Switch to a new paint color to add additional designs to the logo as desired.

5. Change the brush head for the logo by pulling down the menu for the tool, located as the second from the left unmarked option on the toolbar at the top of the work area. Slide the 'Size' bar down to a lower number for finer detail or a higher number for thicker strokes.

6. Add text to the logo by clicking the 'T' icon on the 'Tools' column. Select a font, text size and font color from the toolbar at the top of the work area. Click the 'MyLogo' box and type the company name, a slogan, tagline or other small bit of information.

7. Click the 'File' menu and select 'Save As.' Pull down the 'Format' menu and click 'GIF.' Click 'OK' if Photoshop asks you to flatten layers. Click the 'Save' button.
