How to Trade Pokemon on the VBA

1. Open VBA, then click 'Options' and 'Link.' Uncheck 'Log,' and then click the radio button for 'One Computer.' Click 'OK' and close VBA.

2. Open two instances of VBA, then go to 'Options' and uncheck 'Pause when inactive window' to avoid desync problems. Click on 'Options' and select 'Default Joypad.' Make the default joypads 'Joypad 1' in the first emulator and 'Joypad 2' in the second. The buttons for separate joypads should already be configured.

3. Click 'File' on the first emulator, and then select the Pokemon game you want to load, 'Pokemon Silver,' for example. Do the same on the second emulator but select the other game in the series, 'Pokemon Gold' in this case. On the title screen, select 'Trade' and swap Pokemon freely between the two emulator instances.
