How to Customize Notification Sounds in Android



Add Sounds

1. Connect your Android device to your computer using the included USB cable.

2. Pull down the “Notifications” menu at the top of the Android device’s screen and tab the “USB Connected” notification.

3. Tap the “Mount” button on the screen.

4. Click “Start” on your computer, click “Computer” and double-click the Android device icon in the Computer window.

5. Create a new folder named “notifications” by right-clicking in the device window, pointing to “New,” selecting “Folder,” typing 'Notifications” and pressing “Enter.”

6. Drag and drop MP3 or OGG files into the Notifications folder.

7. Close the Windows Explorer window, click the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon in your system tray, click the “Eject” option for your Android device and unplug it from your computer.

Set the Sound

8. Press the “Menu” button on your device while on your home screen.

9. Tap the “Settings” option and tap “Sound & Display.”

10. Tap the “Notification” sound option on the Sound & Display screen.

11. Select a new notification sound in the list by tapping it. The list displays included notification sounds as well as sound files in the Notifications folder on your device.
