How to Unmask Private Calls

1. Hang up the phone and immediately dial *57. Follow the directions on the line. This will send the number of the last received call directly to the local authorities.

2. Write down any information about the call, such as the time it was made and the amount of time it was connected.

3. Describe the caller's voice if the person spoke --- male, female, sounded young or old, and if the person had an accent. Write down every word the person said.

4. Call the police and make a report. Inform them that you dialed *57 before contacting them and that they should be receiving the number soon. Follow any further instructions from the police department. Wait for them to receive the number from the phone company.

5. Ask the police department for the phone number and the identity of the caller. You have a right to know, and they will give it to you.
