How Can the Android Sync With a MacBook Pro?
The MacBook Pro's default email program is Mail. The program appears with the icon of a stamp with the Apple logo in your applications folder. You can sync mail from your Android by running Mail, opening its preferences, clicking the Accounts tab and then clicking the plus symbol in the bottom-left corner. You can then enter the log-in information for your Gmail account.
Contacts
Your MacBook Pro comes preinstalled with a program called Address Book, located in your applications folder. Address Book appears with the icon of a book with the '@' symbol on its cover. To sync your contacts, open Mail's preferences. Click accounts and choose 'On My Mac' from the account options on the left, and then check the box beside the words 'Synchronize with Google.' Once you do this, a button with two arrows forming a circle appears on your MacBook Pro menu bar. Every time you press this button and select 'Sync Now,' your computer saves your Gmail contacts in Address Book.
Calendars
ICal is your Mac's standard calendar program, appearing with an icon that looks like a desk calendar in your applications folder. You can access iCal's sync feature by going into its preferences, choosing accounts and clicking the plus symbol in the bottom-left corner of the accounts window. Another window opens asking for your log-in information. Enter this information and click 'Create.'
Music and Photos
The MacBook Pro doesn't come with programs that allow you to transfer music or photos from your Android. However, a program called 'Android File Transfer,' available from Android's website, can handle this for you. Click the download button on the Android File Transfer page to place a file on your Mac entitled 'androidfiletransfer.dmg.' Open this file and drag Android File Transfer to your Applications folder. Connect your Android to your Mac with the USB cable that came with the Android. Open Android File Transfer and move any file you want from your Android to your MacBook Pro.
