How to Get Android on a Computer

1. Go to android-x86.org/download and download the Android iso image.

2. Insert a blank CD into your CD burner. Double-click on the iso file you download, and click 'Burn' in the pop-up menu. This will only work on Windows 7. If you have an earlier version of Windows, you will need to get third-party software that can burn iso files to disc and follow the instructions for that program. When the file finishes burning, your CD tray will open. Close the try with the CD in it and shut down your computer.

3. Restart you computer. Press the key on your keyboard needed to boot from a CD when you see your computer manufacturer's logo. Different manufacturers have different keys you need to press. The 'ESC' and 'F10' keys are commonly used.

4. Use the arrow keys to highlight 'Installation -- Install Android to Harddisk' and press 'Enter.'

5. Highlight a partition to install Android to from the list of partitions on your hard drive. Press 'O.'

6. Highlight 'Do Not Partition' to run Android in your current operating system. You can choose to reformat your drive and just run Android. However, you will lose all data on your drive if you do. You should test Android before doing that. Press 'O.'

7. Press 'Y' to select that you want to install Grub, a boot loader. Android will install.
