Android K
Menu Navigation
Open 'K-9 Mail' from your home screen or app drawer. Set alert rules for each account by tapping on it from the app’s main screen. Press the menu key, “More,” “Settings” and “Account Settings.” Among the list of options you’ll see is “Fetching Mail.” This is where you’ll set your poll frequency, or how often your Android device checks for new email messages, as well as how to sync deletions between your phone and the email server. These rules can be customized for each email account.
Status Bar
K-9 Mail customization options include notifications in the status bar, the pull-down bar at the top of your home screen. From the Account Settings option in K-9 Mail, tap “Notifications” and choose what you want to display in the status bar. Options include notifications of new mail, of outgoing mail, when its checking mailboxes and the number of unread email messages.
Notifications
This menu is where you customize your K-9 Mail alerts down to the last detail. From the Notifications menu in each account’s settings, choose a ringtone and whether you want vibration. After you check the “Vibrate” box, you can select a pattern and how many times you want it to repeat. Choose whether you want a flashing LED notification and which color. These alerts can be customized for each email account set up in K-9 Mail.
Quiet Time
Within the K-9 Mail app, users have the option to set quiet time, where ringing, buzzing and flashing will be disabled. Open it from your home screen or app drawer and press the menu key to access “Settings.” Tap on “Notifications,” check the “Quiet Time” box and set start and end hours.
Sound Settings
In addition to all the ways to customize alerting rules within the K-9 Mail app, you may also want to tweak your device’s sound settings. From your app drawer, go into your phone’s settings, and look for sounds and volume. Not only can you set the volume of various types of notifications, but you can match notification volume to incoming calls volume on some devices by checking a box. This allows you to quickly set your notification volume using a phone’s side volume keys.
