How to Control Your TV From Your Android Phone

1. Tap the Android Market app to find applications you can use to control your TV from your Android phone. You can access the market on the Android Market (market.android.com) website also.

2. Search for 'TV remote' to find applications for controlling your TV. Alternatively, you can browse applications in the 'Tools' section. As of August 2011, applications are available for Google TV, Samsung TV and LG TV.

3. Read the full app description to see the prerequisites for the app and make sure you meet them. For the Samsung TV and LG TV remotes, for example, you'll need a TV model that's supported by the application. You'll also need a wireless network in your home.

4. Install the application on your Android phone.

5. Configure the network settings on your TV so that it's successfully connected to the same wireless network as your Android phone. Directions for configuring the network settings for your TV are available in your TV's manual. You can also follow the instructions in the application description in the Android Market.

6. Tap the application's icon on your Android phone to begin using the remote control. If configured correctly, you can use the on-screen remote buttons to control your TV.
