How to Install RAM in a Tablet PC
Installing RAM
1. Determine which kind of Tablet PC you have. There are three types: Slate, Convertible and the Rugged model.
2. Check the make of your Tablet PC. Every make and model has its own characteristic RAM. For example, HP Tablet PCs use EDGE memory which is the most compatible with other hardware components. Compaq TC1100 has two memory sockets with a standard 256 MB of RAM (see Resources below).
3. Get the RAM memory card. Most of the Tablet PCs use a memory card/stick.
4. Handle your Tablet PC carefully. The bottom space is empty, so you don't have to remove anything once you've unscrewed your Tablet PC.
5. Release the keyboard by pressing the two tabs near F1 and F12. Lift the keyboard slightly.
6. Push the little silver tabs on each side. The memory card/RAM stick will pop out.
7. View the sockets and determine the kind of RAM your computer uses.
8. Note that most of the TC series have two slots. One is a non-removable slot while the other is empty to allow space for memory upgrades.
9. Insert the RAM memory stick in the empty slot. You'll hear a 'snap' sound when the RAM is installed properly.
10. Pop back the silver tabs and close the bottom to complete the installation.
11. Switch on the computer and check that the RAM is properly installed.
