How to Install Android Apps from the Computer

Android Market

1. Visit the Android Market in your Web browser. Click 'Sign In' at the top-right corner to log in with the Google account that is associated with your phone.

2. Locate one or more applications that you want to install, and click the 'Install' button under the application icon on a list page or from the application description.

3. Choose your phone from the drop-down menu that appears, and click the green 'Install' button. The market will install the application to your phone. When you access your phone, you'll see an alert that a new application has been installed.

Third Party

4. Download the 'apk' file onto your computer from any application developer.

5. Connect your Android phone to your computer via the USB cable. (Choose store mode when prompted for connection type.)

6. Open your phone as a folder (from 'My Computer' on Windows). From within this folder, open your memory card's folder.

7. Copy and paste or drag and drop the 'apk' file from its current location on your computer to your phone's memory card folder. Disconnect your phone.

8. Open the file from its location on your memory card with a file manager program such as Astro File Manager or ES File Explorer. When you open the file, it will begin to install automatically.
