How to Beta Test an Android App

1. Visit the Web site of the app's developer, or check the 'Alpha & Beta Testing' section of the Android Forums at Androidforums.com/alpha-beta-testing/ for a list of apps in development that currently require beta testers.

2. Download the APK file containing the beta version of the app and copy this file to your phone's memory card. Download the free Apps Installer application from the Android Market, if you haven't already. When you run this application, you'll be able to choose from a list of the APK files on your phone's memory card. Choose the one you downloaded to install it.

3. Run the beta app as you would any other app. Use it in as many ways as you can think of, and continue to check the developer's site or the Android forums for information on what particular aspects of the app still need to be tested. If the app crashes or otherwise malfunctions, carefully note as many details about the failure as you can, including what you were doing with the app when it happened, and report them to the developer using whatever system they describe on their site or the forums.
