Walther PPKS Field Cleaning Instructions

1. Remove the clip from the PPKS and rack the slide action back to remove any live rounds from the firing chamber. This should always be your first step when working on a firearm.

2. Pull the trigger guard downwards and push it from left to right to lock it into place.

3. Pull the slide all the way to the rear and lift the back end straight up when you are able. Push the slide forward then -- still with the rear end lifted up -- until it comes off the frame.

4. Pull the recoil spring off the barrel.

5. Dip your toothbrush in cleaning fluid and scrub down all the metal parts on the PPKS, including the slide and the frame.

6. Apply cleaning fluid to your clean cloth and rub down all the metal parts of the Walther to pick up any grit or grime loosened by the toothbrush.

7. Dip your bore brush in cleaning fluid and scrub it through the barrel of the PPKS several times to dislodge any dirt or fouling.

8. Apply cleaning fluid to several cloth swatches and run them through the barrel of your pistol until they start coming out clean. Then pass several dry swatches through the barrel to remove any excess fluid.

9. Wipe off the excess fluid from the Walther PPKS with your clean cloth.

10. Apply gun oil to a clean cloth and lightly rub down all the metal parts of your Walther.

11. Apply gun oil to a cloth swatch and pass it through the barrel of the Walther.

12. Re-assemble your Walther PPKS.
