How to Install a HTC IME



1. Turn on your computer, and start your preferred Web browser, like Internet Explorer or Safari.

2. Navigate to the download page for the HTC IME. Download both files -- the app itself (HTC_IME.apk) and the configuration program (clicker.apk). Save both files to your computer desktop.

3. Turn on your phone and unlock the screen. Plug the USB cable into both your phone and your computer. Slide the notification bar down and tap 'USB' connection.' Tap 'USB Mass Storage Mode,' then 'OK.'

4. Switch to your computer. Windows users, click the 'Start' button, then click 'Computer' or 'My Computer.' Double-click the phone's microUSB drive. Mac OS X users, click the Finder icon (the blue face) and then click the phone's microUSB drive.

5. Click and drag both the IME and the clicker APK file into the microSD card window. Remove your phone from the USB cable.

6. Press the 'Home' button on your phone. Press the 'Menu' button and tap 'Settings.' Tap 'Applications.' Tap 'Unknown sources' if it isn't already checked.

7. Press the 'Home' button again. Tap the application drawer. Start your Android file browser.

8. Navigate to the root SD card folder. Tap the 'HTC_IME.apk' file. Tap 'Install.' Tap 'Install' again. Tap 'OK.' Repeat this process with the 'clicker.apk' file. Press the 'Home' button again. Press the 'Menu' button, then tap 'Settings.' Tap 'Language & Keyboard.' Tap the box next to 'HTC_IME mod.' Tap 'OK.'

9. Press the 'Home' button. Press the 'Search' button. Tap and hold the search box for one second until the popup menu appears. Tap 'Input Method.' Tap 'HTC_IME mod.'
