How to Put Android on a Palm Treo Pro
1. Turn on your computer and Palm Treo Pro smartphone. Use the USB cable to connect the phone to the computer in data transfer mode.
2. Open your favorite Web browser on your computer and navigate to this link: sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/2010-02-20/. Click to download the 'haretinstall.zip' file and save it to your computer.
3. Right-click the archive on your hard disk and click 'Extract all' and then 'Extract' to extract the files. This action will create a folder named Andboot. The folder must contain these files: 'haret.exe,' 'zImage,' 'initrd.gz' and 'default.txt.'
4. Transfer the Andboot folder to the Treo's microSD card. The 'haret.exe,' 'zImage,' 'initrd.gz' and 'default.txt' files must be properly transferred if you want Android to work properly.
5. Use the computer's Web browser to navigate to this link: 'filecrop.com/1.25-v32kernel.zip.html.' Click to download the '1.0-v32kernel.zip' file and save it to the computer.
6. Right-click the zip file and click 'Rename' from the resulting menu. Name the file 'androidinstall.tar.' The '.tar' extension is mandatory. Copy this file to the SD card, inside the Andboot folder.
7. Unplug the USB cable from both the Palm Treo Pro and the computer. Open the smartphone's native file browser. Find the Andboot folder and tap the 'haret.exe' file to run it.
8. Tap on option one. This will start the Android operating system installation. Select 'Yes' to wipe and install the system and 'Yes' to wipe and install the data. Note that this action doesn't delete the Windows Mobile operating system.
9. Tap on option nine to finish installing the Android operating system on the Palm Treo Pro. Reboot the phone to start the Android operating system. Note that Windows Mobile will start when you restart the phone again. You'll have to run 'haret.exe' again if you want to keep running Android.
