Is Google Maps Available for Kindle Fire?
1. Tap “Apps” and “Store,” and search for “File Explorer.” Tap the link to download and install a file manager, such as ES File Explorer, File Manager or AndroZip.
2. Launch the Web browser on your Kindle Fire, and visit the Google Code page to download the GoogleServicesFramework APK file (see Resources).
3. Visit the Android File Host site to download the GoogleLoginService APK file (see Resources).
4. Visit the APK4 site to download the Google Maps APK file (see Resources).
5. Slide the “Notification” bar down, and tap “More,” followed by “Device.” Tap “On” next to “Allow Installation of Applications from Unknown Sources.” Tap “OK” when the warning pops up.
6. Launch the file manager you installed from the Amazon Appstore, and tap “Download” to access the APK files you downloaded through your browser.
7. Tap the files in the following order to install them on your Kindle Fire: “GoogleServicesFramework.apk,” “GoogleLoginService.apk” and “Maps_6_14_3.apk.” Tap “Install” when prompted after tapping each file.
8. Tap “Home” and “Apps” to see all programs installed on your Kindle Fire. Tap “Maps” to launch Google Maps.
