1. Press the 'Menu' button on the homepage of the EVO.

2. Touch 'Settings' and tap 'Applications.'

3. Tap 'Manage applications' and check the box next to 'Unknown sources.'

4. Tap 'OK' to confirm.

Downloading And Installing Z4root

5. Open the application screen and tap 'Internet.'

6. Type 'forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833954' in the address bar.

7. Touch the 'z4root.1.1.0.apk' link at the bottom of the first post to start the download.

8. Drag the notification bar down and touch the Z4root app once the download is complete.

9. Touch the 'Root' button.
