How to Make an Android Phone a Modem



1. Launch the Android Market on your Android smartphone and download a tethering application such as PdaNet or EasyTether. Installation will start when the download completes.

2. Access the tethering application's website in your computer's Web browser and download the desktop drivers for your computer.

3. Install the drivers by following the on-screen prompts from the installation wizard. You may be required to restart your computer when the installation completes.

4. Tap 'Menu' on your Android phone, then 'Settings.' Tap 'Applications,' then Development.'

5. Check the 'USB Debugging' box and press 'End' on your phone.

6. Connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable and tap the tethering application's icon on your phone.

7. Double-click the tethering application's icon on your computer's desktop. Click the option to start a connection.

8. Wait for a confirmation message that the computer is connected to the Internet. Open a Web browser and surf the Internet.
