How to Get Rid of Amazon Blockbuster on a Droid X



1. Turn on your phone, slide the unlock bar to the right and press the 'Home' button. Bring up the application launcher (it's the arrow facing upward on the default Droid X homescreen.) Tap the 'Browser' icon.

2. Navigate to the Mediafire link at the bottom of this page. Tap 'click here to start download.' The Z4 Root application will be saved to your phone's SD card. (This is a free application developed for rooting phones, but it isn't available in the Android Market.)

3. Press the 'Home' button, then press the 'Menu' button and tap 'Settings.' Tap 'Applications.' Tap the box marked 'Unknown sources,' then tap 'OK' in the pop-up menu.

4. Press the 'Home' button again, bring up the application launcher and tap the 'Market' icon. Press the 'Search' button on the screen or on the bottom of your phone. Type 'Super Manager,' then tap 'Enter.' Tap the entry for 'Super Manager' and install the application. (It's free.)

5. Lower the notification bar (the white bar at the top of your screen) and tap 'z4root.1.3.0.apk.' Tap 'Install' and wait for the process to finish, then tap 'Open.'

6. Tap 'Permanent Root,' then 'OK.' The rooting process may take up to ten minutes; wait for Z4 Root to finish and do not change the screen or star another app while it's running. When the app says 'OK', tap the 'Home' button again.

7. Tap the application launcher, then 'Super Manager.' Tap 'Settings,' then tap the box marked 'Enable ROOT function.' Tap 'OK' in the pop-up menu, then press the 'Back' button on the bottom of your phone.

8. Tap the entry at the top of the screen marked 'Back up level folder' twice. Scroll down an tap the folder marked 'system,' then 'app.'

9. Scroll down until you see the 'Amazon MP3' entry. Tap and hold the entry so that a pop-up menu appears. Tap 'Rename.' In the 'Rename a File' window, tap the name and press the backspace button on your keyboard, erasing only the last letter in the filename. (The 'k' in '.apk') Tap 'OK.'

10. Scroll down until you see the 'Blockbuster' entry. Tap and hold the entry so that a pop-up menu appears. Tap 'Rename.' In the 'Rename a File' window, tap the name and press the backspace button on your keyboard, erasing only the last letter in the filename. (The 'k' in '.apk') Tap 'OK.'

11. Press the 'Home' button again, then the application launcher. Amazon MP3 and Blockbuster have been removed from your app list.
