My Droid Is Locked I Forgot My Gmail Password

Pattern or Passcode Lock

The pattern or passcode lock on the Droid mobile phone is used to provide additional security to your phone. During the initial setup of your phone, you are prompted to choose a pattern or lock code for the phone. The pattern is drawn over nine dots and must be entered correctly each time the phone's screen locks. The passcode lock consists of at least four digits.

Online Recovery

If your Droid phone is locked, you must enter your Gmail information to reset the security code. If you are unable to recall your Gmail username or password, you can access Gmail.com and request that the information is sent to an alternative email address. You cannot request the user name if you did not include an alternate email address when setting up your account. Unfortunately, you will need to reset your phone and set up another Gmail account on your phone.

Reset Phone

After 10 unsuccessful attempts to bypass your phone's security by drawing the pattern or entering the lock code, the phone resets. All of the data and settings on your phone are erased when your phone is reset. Unless the data is backed up, you cannot retrieve it. After the phone resets, you will be prompted to establish a new account or enter the account information for another Gmail account.

Retrieving Data

If you remember your Gmail login information at a later date, you can add the account

to the phone through the settings menu. Touch “Applications and Sync Settings,” and then touch “Add Account.” After entering the Gmail account's login information, your phone will sync with the account. Data files on your memory card are retained and you can still access them on your phone. You can download any applications that you previously used before from the Android Market.
