What Does Invalid MMI Code Mean?
Invalid MMI Codes
If you input the code to access a certain feature, such as call forwarding, on your phone but it doesn’t work, you’ll receive an “Invalid MMI Code.” This could mean you haven’t subscribed to this service or feature with your phone. Although some companies offer call forwarding with regular service, others require that you pay extra for its special features. If your phone supports user creation of these codes, verify that the information you entered for the code is correct.
Accessing Voice Mail
The company with whom you have your service usually provides a series of numbers or text associated with the MMI codes already programmed into your phone. These could include accessing your voice mail or accessing information on your phone plan, such as available minutes or payment options. If you push the designated code provided by your phone company and receive the “invalid MMI code” message, contact your phone company for further information.
Software Version
Sometimes you can find out what software version your phone is running using an MMI code. You can access this information by inputting the code assigned by your phone company. If the company has changed the number or access to the information, you will receive an “invalid MMI code” error. Contact your phone company about the problem, or check to see if the number accessed is correct.
Corrupt SIM Cards
When you have an invalid MMI code message and you’ve verified that you have the services you are trying to access by using the code, your subscriber identification module, or SIM, card may be corrupt. Your phone company will replace your SIM card if it is corrupt. You will need to find a retail outlet for your phone carrier and take your phone in to get the new card. The other option is to contact the company by phone and ask that a new card be sent to you.
