How to Transfer Music Onto My Android Phone

Dropbox Cloud Sync

1. Start the Web browser on your computer and navigate to Dropbox.com to download the Dropbox client software (link in Resources).

2. Click the blue 'Free Download' button and save the installer on your hard drive.

3. Double-click the installer and follow the instructions on your screen to install the Dropbox software.

4. Launch the Web browser on your Android phone and navigate to Google Play to download the Dropbox app (link in Resources).

5. Tap 'Install' to put the Dropbox app on your phone.

6. Start Dropbox on your computer and select 'I don't have a Dropbox account' to create a new account. Click 'Next.'

7. Type your first and last name, email, password and computer name in the setup window.

8. Click the 'Terms of Service' link to read the online version of the Dropbox terms of service.

9. Place a check mark in front of 'I have read and agree to the Terms of Service' if you agree with the terms. Click 'Next.'

10. Select the '2GB' option as your Dropbox size, or choose '50GB' or '100GB' if you wish to pay for more storage. Click 'Next.'

11. Select 'Typical' as the setup type and click 'Install.'

12. Place a check mark in front of the 'Open my Dropbox folder now' option and click 'Finish.'

13. Create a new folder in the Dropbox folder, and name it 'My Music.'

14. Copy and paste your music into the 'My Music' folder. A small blue icon appears over the standard folder icon while the folder syncs; a green check mark appears after a successful sync.

15. Launch the Dropbox app on your Android phone.

16. Tap 'I'm already a Dropbox user,' and type the email and password you used when you created the Dropbox account on your computer. Tap 'Log in.'

17. Tap the 'My Music' folder. Long-tap any of the audio files and tap 'Download as non-streaming' to download the file. Select the folder in which to store the audio file and tap 'Download.'

SugarSync Cloud Sync

18. Launch the Web browser on your computer and navigate to SugarSync (link in Resources) to download the SugarSync client software.

19. Click the 'Download SugarSync' button and save the installer on your computer.

20. Double-click the 'SugarSyncSetup.exe' file you downloaded earlier; the program will automatically launch after all files are extracted.

21. Click the 'Sign Up' button to start creating a new account.

22. Type your first and last name, email address and password, and click 'Next.'

23. Select the '5GB -- Free' option at the top of the window, or choose the fee-based 30GB through 250GB options. Click 'Next.'

24. Type a name for your computer in the 'Name' text box and pick an icon from the list of icons. Click 'Next.'

25. Click the 'Add More Folders' button, place a check mark in front of the folder in which your music is stored and click 'OK' to add it to SugarSync. Click 'Next.'

26. Click 'Skip Tour' to skip the tour.

27. Click 'Finish' to close the Setup window. Note that, at this point, SugarSync is working in the background.

28. Launch the Web browser on your Android phone and navigate to Google Play to download the SugarSync app (link in Resources).

29. Tap 'Install' to add the SugarSync app to your phone.

30. Launch the SugarSync app on your phone. Enter your email address and password to log in to your account.

31. Tap your computer name in the My Devices section.

32. Tap the folder in which your audio files are stored. Tap the 'Sync to this Device' option from the menu that pops up to transfer the music folder from your computer to your phone.

Box Cloud Sync

33. Launch the Web browser on your computer and navigate to the Box.com website (link in Resources).

34. Click the 'Sign Up' button to create a new Box account.

35. Click the 'Sign Up Now' button under the Personal section to create a free account.

36. Type your first and last name, email, password and phone number in the Set Up Your Account section at the right.

37. Place a check mark in front of the 'I agree this is for non-commercial use only' option and click 'Continue' to create your account.

38. Use the Web browser to navigate to the SimpleShare webpage on Box.com (link in Resources).

39. Click the 'Get the App' button and save the installer on your computer.

40. Double-click the file you just downloaded to start the installation, and follow the instructions on your screen. The SimpleShare application will launch automatically.

41. Enter your email address in the 'User e-mail' text box and your password in the 'Password' text box and click 'Log In.'

42. Click the 'Account' tab and click 'View Folder.' Wait for the SimpleShare Uploads page to automatically open in your Web browser.

43. Drag and drop your media files onto the Web browser window to transfer them to your Box account.

44. Launch the Web browser on your Android phone and navigate to Google Play to download the Box app (link in Resources).

45. Tap 'Install' to put Box on your phone.

46. Launch the Box app on your phone.

47. Type your email address and password and tap 'Submit' to log in to your Box account.

48. Tap the 'SimpleShare Uploads' folder to open it and view your media files.

49. Tap any media file or folder and then tap the 'Save' option in the resulting menu.

50. Select a folder in which to store the audio file(s) and tap 'OK' to store them.

SD Card

51. Remove the SD card from your Android phone.

52. Insert the SD card into an SD card reader attached to your computer. Wait for Windows 7 to detect it as a mass storage device and assign a drive to it.

53. Start the default Windows 7 file manager and copy to the clipboard the audio files you want to transfer to your phone.

54. Open the SD card drive and open an existing folder or create a new folder.

55. Paste the audio files from the clipboard into the folder.

56. Remove the SD card from the card reader.

57. Insert the SD card into your Android phone.

USB Connection

58. Open the 'Settings' menu on your phone, tap 'Application Settings' and tap 'Unknown Sources.'

59. Go back to the Application Settings menu, tap 'Development' and then tap 'USB Debugging' to enable your Android phone to connect to your computer via USB.

60. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable. Wait for Windows to detect the phone as a mass storage device and assign a drive to it.

61. Launch the Windows 7 file manager and copy the audio files you want to transfer.

62. Navigate to the drive assigned by Windows to your Android phone and open the folder in which you want to store the music.

63. Paste the audio files from the clipboard.

64. Disconnect your phone from your computer.
