How to Get Rid of Cmd.Exe
1. Type 'EXIT' (with no quotes) into the CMD.exe window and press 'Enter' on your keyboard. The 'Exit' command automatically shuts down the CMD.exe process and closes it on your screen.
2. Right-click on the icon for CMD.exe on your task bar. Select the 'Close Window' option from the context menu that appears. Even though CMD.exe is a command prompt, it is still opened in Windows just as any other program, complete with a task bar icon. Selecting the 'Close Window' option gets rid of the CMD.exe program.
3. Move your mouse up to the upper-right corner of the CMD.exe program window. Locate the 'X' button and place your mouse cursor over top of it. Left-click one time on the 'X' button to close out of the CMD.exe window. This has the same effect as using the 'Exit' command in the window or selecting 'Close Window' from your task bar.
