How to Install Apps on a Smart Phone



Install Applications Via Download

1. Open a browser on the phone.

2. Navigate to the desired mobile URL for the downloadable application. For example, if downloading and installing Google Maps for Mobile, proceed to the Mobile Download page for the Google Maps for Mobile application (See Resources).

3. Click the 'Download' button and follow the on-screen instructions. Normally, the application will download and automatically begin the installation process. When finished, start and run the application.

Install Applications with Synchronizing Program.

4. Open a web browser and download the desired application to install on the smart phone and save the file to the computer. Alternatively, copy the file from another location onto the computer desktop.

5. Open the synchronizing desktop application such as Microsoft ActiveSync on the computer.

6. Connect the smart phone to the computer using the USB data cable, or with a Bluetooth connection. The computer will recognize the device and register the phone with the synchronizing program.

7. Start the synchronization process, if it does not start automatically. Allow the phone to completely synchronize with the computer.

8. Double-click the EXE installation file saved to the computer. Make sure the phone is synchronized and connected to the computer.

9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

10. Disconnect the phone and use the application.
