How to Play RAR Files on ePSXe

Extracting the RAR with 7-Zip (Freeware)

1. Open your preferred web browser and go to the 7-Zip website (see References). Download the 7-Zip installer.

2. Double click the downloaded installer to begin setup. This will be stored in your web browser's default download directory unless specified otherwise.

3. Locate your RAR file and double click it to open in 7-Zip File Manager.

4. Click "Extract" then choose a destination for your extracted Playstation ROM to be placed. Click "Extract" then close 7-Zip File Manager once it has finished.

5. Open ePSXe, click "File" then "Open." Locate your extracted Playstation ROM, select it then click "Open" to load the game in ePSXe.

Extracting the RAR with WinRAR (Shareware)

6. Open your preferred web browser and go to the RARLAB website (see References). Download the WinRAR installer.

7. Double click the downloaded installer to begin setup. This will be stored in your web browser's default download directory unless specified otherwise.

8. Locate your RAR file and double click it to open in WinRAR.

9. Click "Extract To" then choose a destination for your extracted Playstation ROM to be placed. Click "Extract" then close WinRAR once it has finished. Make a note of where you stored this file.

10. Open ePSXe, click "File," then click "Open." Locate your extracted Playstation ROM, select it, then click "Open" to load the game in ePSXe.

Extracting the RAR with WinZIP (Shareware)

11. Open your preferred web browser and go to the WINZIP website (see References). Download the WinZIP installer.

12. Double click the downloaded installer to begin setup. This will be stored in your web browser's default download directory unless specified otherwise.

13. Locate your RAR file and double click it to open in 7-Zip File Manager.

14. Click "Extract," then choose a destination for your extracted Playstation ROM. Make a note of this location, then click "Extract" and close WinZip once it has finished.

15. Open ePSXe, click "File," then "Open." Locate your extracted Playstation ROM as placed in WInZip, select it then click "Open" to load the game in ePSXe.
