How to Open Attachments on an Android

1. Tap the 'Gmail' icon on your Android home screen.

2. Select the message containing the file attachment you want to open.

3. Tap the 'Download' button to save the file to your Android storage. Alternatively, you can tap the 'Preview' button to view the file before downloading it to your phone. Android phones support file previews for PDF, JPG, PNG and GIF file types.

4. Select the program you want to use to open the file attachment once the file is downloaded. If you do not have a program with which to open the file, you will need to install an application from the Android Market.
