How to Remove Preloaded Apps on a Samsung Vibrant
Rooting Your Vibrant
1. Press the 'Menu' button on the main screen of your Vibrant and touch Settings.
2. Tap Applications and check the box next to 'Unknown Sources.' The phone will prompt you to confirm, so touch 'OK.'
3. Press the 'Home' key to return to the main screen.
4. Open the Vibrant browser and enter 'static.droidnetwork.net/wicked/files/z4root.1.3.0.apk' (without quotes) in the address bar.
5. Touch 'Enter.' The device will prompt you to download the Z4 Root file. Wait for the download to complete.
6. Drag down the notification bar at the top of the screen and touch the Download Complete notification to launch the installer.
7. Tap 'Install' and touch Root. Select the option for permanent root or temporary root. Temporary root will root the phone until you reboot, allowing you to remove the applications and return the phone to its unrooted state. Permanent root makes the changes permanent until you install an operating system update.
Removing the Apps
8. Open the Market application on your Vibrant to launch the Android Market.
9. Tap the magnifying glass icon to open the search bar.
10. Enter 'Titanium Backup' and touch 'Enter.'
11. Tap the Titanium Backup listing and touch 'Download.'
12. Select 'Accept & Download' to install the application. Once the app is finished installing, touch 'Open.'
13. Tap the Backup/Restore tab and press the 'Menu' button. Tap Backup All User Apps + System Data to create a backup of all of your applications and their data. This allows you to reinstall in case you remove something accidentally. Wait for the process to finish. Depending on how many apps you have, it could take a few minutes.
14. Touch the app you want to remove and tap 'Un-install!' to remove the application.
