How to Install Media Center on a Tablet PC

Turn Your Tablet PC Into a Media Center

1. Install the Tablet PC Experience Pack from the Microsoft website (see Resources below). In addition to the productivity tools and entertainment options provided by the Experience Pack, the Media Connect also has tools that allow you to access media content from other computers on your network.

2. Install Windows Media Player 11 on your Tablet PC (see Resources below). Windows Media Player 11 can serve as the core of your media center, allowing you to play CDs, DVDs and media files from a single application. You can also use Windows Media Player 11 to organize and search your media files.

3. Set Windows Media Player 11 as your default media player. If you have other media players installed on your Tablet PC, they may be set as the default player for certain media types. By specifying Windows Media Player 11 as the default player for your files, you will be able to access your digital media through a single interface.

4. Transfer digital media files to your Tablet PC. If you have a CD or DVD drive (internal or external) for your Tablet PC, you can rip songs from CDs onto your Tablet PC using Windows Media Player 11. Using Windows Media Player 11, you can also transfer content from other computers on the same network to your Tablet PC.

5. Launch Windows Media Player 11. Select the file or playlist that you want to listen to or watch. You can use the pen of your Tablet PC to navigate through the interface.
