How to Install Droid Applications From SD Cards
Settings and File Explorer
1. Turn on your phone and press the 'Home' button. Press the 'Menu' button, then tap 'Settings.' Tap 'Applications.' Check the 'Unknown Sources' box, then tap 'OK.'
2. Press the 'Home' button again. Tap the application grid, then the 'Market' icon. Press the 'Search' button, type 'astro file manager' and tap 'Go.' You can also search for 'oi file manager.'
3. Tap the entry for Astro File Manager or OI File Manager. Tap the 'Install' button, then 'OK.'
Installing the APK
4. Press the 'Home' button, then tap the application grid. Tap the 'Astro' or 'OI File Manager' icon (with the picture of a folder). Tap the 'Accept' button.
5. Navigate to the folder where the APK file is stored. Tap a folder to display the contents. Tap the 'Up' button to go back if you get lost. Both programs default to the root SD folder, but if you don't see your SD card's files, tap the folder marked 'SD Card.' When you find the APK file, tap it once.
6. Examine the list of system permissions that the new app will access. If you're comfortable with these permissions, tap 'Install.' Wait for the message 'Application installed' to appear, then tap 'Open.' Your new app is now running on your phone.
