How to Retrieve Your 2Wire ATT Router Password

1. Open a Web browser and type '192.168.1.254' or type 'www.gateway.2wire.net' and press 'Enter.' The System Summary page will appear.

2. Look to the right of the words 'Network at a Glance.' Click on 'Change System Password.' At the Enter the Password dialogue box, click on 'I forgot the password.' A password hint appears above the password prompt. Enter the password now if you can remember it. Otherwise, click on 'I still can't remember the password,' and proceed to Step 3.

3. Look on the bottom of your gateway and find your system key; a 10-digit number with brackets at both ends. Enter this number in the form field next to the words 'System Key' and press the 'Tab' key. Type a new password -- one that will be easy to remember -- in the form field next to the words 'Enter New Password' and press the 'Tab' key again. Re-enter your new password next to the words 'Confirm System Password' and press the 'Tab' key.

4. Type a password hint in the form field next to the words 'Enter Your Hint:' to help remember your password. Click 'Submit.'
