How to Transfer Apps From a PC to a Sprint HTC Hero
1. Turn on your phone and slide the unlock tab down. Press the 'Home' button. Insert the USB cable into both your computer and your phone.
2. Slide the notification area down and tap 'USB Connected.' Tap 'Mount.' Switch to your computer.
3. Click the 'Start' button, then click 'Computer' or 'My Computer.' Double-click the SD card drive.
4. Copy the APK file from the folder you saved it in -- usually either the computer desktop, the 'My Documents' folder or the browser download folder -- to the SD card. When the transfer is finished, remove the USB cable from the phone.
5. Press the 'Menu' button, then tap 'Settings.' Tap 'Applications.' Make sure that the entry for 'Unknown sources' is checked. Press the 'Home' button again.
6. Tap the application drawer and start your file manager. If you don't have a file manager, download it from the Android Market. Popular free managers include ASTRO File Manager, ES File Explorer and OI File Manager.
7. Tap 'SD Card,' then tap the file you transferred in Step 4.
8. Tap 'Install,' then tap 'Install' again. Tap 'Done.' Your third-party app is now installed.
