How to Make and Convert a File to IPSW

File Renaming

1. Open the folder where the download is located.

2. Right-click the file and click 'Rename.'

3. Click inside the box to de-select the name, and press the arrow keys to move to the end.

4. Press 'Backspace' three times to delete the last three letters.

5. Type 'ipsw' and press enter. iTunes will now recognize the file as iOS firmware.

File Extraction

6. Download 7-Zip from 7-zip.org.

7. Click 'Run' and wait for the Setup Wizard.

8. Click 'Next,' and place a check mark to accept the License Agreement.

9. Click 'Next,' and 'Install.'

10. Click 'Finish' and then open the folder containing the file.

11. Right-click it and select '7-zip' from the context menu.

12. Click 'Extract Here.' The IPSW saves into the same folder as the original.
