As of October, 2010, Contact2Sim Pro costs $5.50 to download, while the basic version is free. Both versions will give you the desired result. Install whichever version best suits your needs.

The app will transfer all contacts from the SIM card to your phone, excluding those that are already saved to the phone. Troubleshooting Bump for Android

Connected

Before you check anything else, connect your phone either to a Wi-Fi signal or enable the data. Open the 'Settings' menu, then the 'Wireless and network settings' menu. The green check mark should be next to the Wi-Fi option, listing the network you're connected to, and/or the green check mark next to Data Enabled under Mobile Network Settings should be checked. Bump won't work without being connected to the Internet either through a Wi-Fi connection or data stream.

GPS Enabled

For Bump to work, the GPS must also be enabled. Android phones allow you to change this by tapping the 'Location and security' menu under Settings. Several options for location settings -- such as standalone GPS services, Google location services or your phone service provider's location services -- are listed. At minimum, your cellphone service provider's location services should be checked, though you may check multiple location services and still allow Bump to work.

Cross-Platforms

IPhones and Androids aren't able to Bump certain information to each other. Invites, Facebook and calendars don't share between the two operating systems due to iPhone's version of Bump being further advanced than Android's, says Bump. In its FAQ list, Bump promises Android's version should be up to par with iPhone's in the near future, as of October 2011.

Songs

If you Bumped your Android with a friend to get a song and realized you received only part of it, you didn't do anything wrong. Bump allows you to receive only streaming versions of songs via YouTube for a few reasons. Bump can't transfer the song file itself, most likely due to copyright infringement issues. However, it'll provide a link to iTunes so you can purchase and download the song directly if you wish.

How to Get Unlimited Money on the Sims

1. Begin playing the Sims PC version as you normally do. While playing, simultaneously press Ctrl/Shift/C. Pressing this combination of keys brings up the cheat code entry window. The cheat window shows up at the top of screen.

2. Type in a money cheat code; rosebud for the (patched) version 1.1 and klapaucius for the (unpatched) version 1.0. Initially, the software says no such cheat code exists, however the money increases because of the cheat code. Just typing in these cheat codes gives your Sim 1,000 simoleons or Sims money. To increase the money, repeat the command and add an exclamation point (!) after the cheat code.

3. Enter the appropriate cheat code followed by eight or more exclamation marks separated by semi-colons, for example, 'rosebud;!;!;!;!;!;.' That allows you to enter the Sims money cheat code and repeat it in one command rather than typing in rosebud in several different steps. Continue to type in the money cheat code until you reach 9,999,999 simoleons, which is virtually unlimited money.

4. Try substituting a 1 for an exclamation point and a colon for a semicolon a couple of times in the cheat code command. This variation allows you to continually hit enter instead of repeated typing the code to reach unlimited money.

5. Keep more money in the Sims game by not paying bills. Use a Sims character to get the bills from the mailbox. Put the bills somewhere in the game like a table in the house. In the cheat code box type \'move_objects on\' and then pick up the bills and delete them. Do this rather than deleting the mailbox because deleting the mailbox keeps friends away and causes you to have items repossessed.

6. Sell everything in your Sims house as another way to gain a lot of money fast. Close the game and look in the installation folder for the UserData folder. Inside the UserData folder find your Houses folder and copy it to the desktop. Then reopen the game and sell all items in your house, close the game, and copy the Houses folder from the desktop back to the UserData folder overwriting the current folder. Reopen the game and you have the money for your sales and the items. Continue to repeat the process to increase your money.

How to Disassemble a .380

1. Point your .380 handgun away from you or any other person in the area. Drop the magazine out by depressing the magazine catch (at the bottom of the grip on some models, at the top near the slide on others). Put the magazine aside.

2. Keep the gun pointed away from you or any other person in the area and jack the slide by firmly gripping the rear of the slide and pulling it toward you. Tilt the gun sideways so you can look into the chamber without pointing the gun at yourself and check to see if there is a bullet remaining in the chamber. If there is, remove it by knocking the side of the .380 gently to push it out through the chamber. Once the chamber is clear, release the slide.

3. Locate the rear release plug. On some models this will be a keyhole-shaped plug near the rear of the slide (as on the Davis P-380), on other types of .380 guns you will have to insert a pencil, eraser first, into the barrel and push on the spring at the back of the barrel until it releases (for instance, use this method on a Colt Lorcin). If you have a Ruger LCP, look for the slide release lever at the rear base of the slide.

4. Lay a clean rag flat on your work surface. Hold your pistol so the top of the slide is toward the rag, almost upside down. Then pull the slide toward you and away from the gun body at the same time. The internal parts will fall free as the slide is removed. Your 380 is completely disassembled; at this point and you can easily clean the weapon.

Android Hacks for the Notification LED Light

Phone LED Capabilities

Verify the LED light color capabilities before considering installing LED hacks. The LED's capabilities are limited by the phone's hardware. Some Android devices do not even have a LED light, while others only have a single color LED. To reduce battery drain, some Androids only activate the LED when the screen is turned off. You can sometimes find this information by reading specifications or reviews. If you can't find the info, contact the device manufacturer's customer care department and ask the representative the capabilities of the LED light. Some devices also require root access to change the notification LED settings.

Light Flow

Light Flow allows you to set LED flash color and frequency for a variety of phone functions and third-party applications. If your phone has a camera LED but not a notification LED, Light Flow allows you to use the camera LED as a notification light. If you have multiple notifications on your phone, the app can cycle the LED between the different colors to alert you of the type of notifications. Light Flow comes in two versions. The Lite version is free, but it takes up to 12 blinks for the LED color to change if you have multiple notifications. The paid version changes every flash, and also includes built-in support for social media services.

Blink

Blink also allows you to set notification colors and flash frequency. The app's main advantage is it allows you to select LED colors based on their red green blue values. Blink also allows you to test the LED by selecting colors from a gradient color wheel. For example, if you select a blue shade and your phone's LED color doesn't change, the LED doesn't have the capability of showing blue.

NoLED

NoLED is an app for Android devices that do not have a notification or flash LED. It displays an icon or bright flashing light on the Android lock screen. The app allows you to customize the color and type of icon for different notifications. It supports all the standard phone functions such as text messages, voicemail alerts, and missed calls. You can also set notifications for most third-party applications through the Monitored Apps setting. The drawback is it drains the battery faster than the other hacks, because the screen must remain on for the notification icons to display.

Click the smiley-face button to the left, above where you type your messages, to get a drop-down menu of all of the available emoticons. Just click one and it will appear in your message. You can also hold your mouse over one to find the keyboard shortcut. Then you can type the shortcut instead of going to the menu.

5. Use the nudge button (the smiley with lines around it, two spots to the right of the emoticon button) to get someone's attention on MSN. It causes her window to shake and make a doorbell noise. But don't use it too often. This can really irritate people and cause them to block you so you can't talk to them anymore.

6. Watch the bottom of your screen if you're carrying on a conversation with more than one person at a time. Each time someone sends you a new message, the minimized version of their conversation window will flash orange. This lets you know when someone has responded and when someone hasn't. Don't get into too many conversations at once, or you won't be able to keep up.

How to Edit Anime

1. Download a copy of the episode being fansubbed, which is referred to as the 'raw.' Your fansub group will generally have an FTP account they use to allow all members of the team to easily work on the project.

2. Download a copy of the translated script from your fansub group's FTP. It will often have been timed by this point, but not always, especially if the group's timer is out of pocket and the anime fansubbers do not wish to delay its release.

3. Open the script in Microsoft Notepad.

4. Open the raw episode in VLC Media Player or your media player of choice. Make sure that both programs are open side-by-side so you may refer to each of them simultaneously.

5. Watch the episode while referring to the translation on the same screen. Press pause at natural stopping points, such as the end of a line of dialogue.

6. Listen to the line of dialogue in Japanese while reading the English translation. While an editor does not need to be fluent in the language, he should be able to recognize common phrases and expressions, especially if the script is untimed.

7. Verify that the English translation for that line makes sense. Is there a better turn of phrase? Was one word used where a different word is preferable? Does the dialogue sound stiff and formal or does it read naturally and fluently? Make the appropriate corrections.

8. Repeat this for each line of dialogue until the script is complete.

9. Read through the script file. Correct typos that may have escaped the first edit. Check to make sure names are spelled the same way throughout. Is punctuation consistent? Are long lines of dialogue broken into segments that are natural and easy to read?

10. Rewatch the episode with the edited script alongside your video screen. Is the script as polished as you can make it? Make any last-minute changes.

11. Save your file, renaming the filename to indicate it has passed the first edit stage. Preserve any special filename extensions, such as .ssa or .eru, in your new file.

12. Upload your work to the group's FTP account so that the next person in line (either the timer or the typesetter) may do her job.

ASVAB Study Guide Secrets

Plan Your Study Time

Plan your study schedule and develop and effective study strategy. Plan to spend an hour a day studying for two to three months before your scheduled exam. Take a practice ASVAB test to determine your weakest areas. Plan to spent the majority of your time on your weakest area; for example, if math is your weakest area, you may want to spend 60 percent of your weekly study time on math and 40 percent on the verbal sections. Review your study areas at the end of the week, paying close attention to any trouble spots.

Develop and Practice Test-Taking Strategies

When studying for multiple-choice tests like the ASVAB, learn to read the directions thoroughly before answering. Make sure that you understand what the question is asking before marking your answer; do not miss words like 'not' or 'except' that can drastically change the meaning of a question. Consider the question carefully whenever an answer contains absolute words like never, nothing, always or all. According to Barron's, these words are often clues that the answer is possibly wrong because it is too broad; conversely, limiting words, such as sometimes, possibly or occasionally, often signal a choice that could be correct. Eliminate answers you know are wrong, and do not reconsider answers you have eliminated.

Develop a Strategy for the Computer-Based Test

Visit the official ASVAB site, and practice using its tutorial. The computer-based version adapts to the ability of the test-taker. If you answer the first question correctly, the next question will be more difficult; if you answer incorrectly, the next question will be easier. You will receive a higher score if you answer more difficult questions. According to 'The Complete Idiot's Guide to the ASVAB,' you should try to get the first five questions right because it will be harder to build up a high score if you start out with easier questions worth fewer points.

Study and Retake the ASVAB

ASVAB test results are valid for two years. After taking an initial ASVAB test, you can retake the test in 30 days. You must wait another six months after the retest before taking the test again. The military considers your most recent scores, not your highest scores, when determining job and service qualifications. If you took the ASVAB in high school and would like to increase your score, you canrequest that the recruiter administer the version of the ASVAB given to people who did not take the high school version.

How to Transfer From a PC to an Android

1. Locate your Android USB cable. Your Android device should have been supplied with a cable to connect it to your PC. One end should plug into your Android device, normally through the same port you use to plug the device in to charge its battery. On the other end, there should be a USB connector which you can plug in to your PC. In some cases, Android USB cables are provided as part of the power plug.

2. Connect your Android device to your PC by plugging the cable in at both ends, one to the Android and the other to the PC USB port. Your Android device will display a notification informing you that the device has been connected to another device. You should see a little USB icon appear within the notification bar at the top of your Android screen. Open the notification area by sliding it down using your finger. A message reading 'USB Connected' will be displayed.

3. Tap the 'USB Connected' message on your Android device. You will see a pop-up message providing you with options in terms of what happens next. Which options appear depend partly on which version of Android you are running and partly on your device. You need to mount the device as a disk drive, so choose 'Mount' or 'Disk Drive' from the available options. You can now set the Android device down and focus on your computer.

4. Browse the Android device from your computer. Depending on which operating system you have on your PC, you will see a pop-up window providing you with options in terms of what you want to do with the newly connected device. You want to browse the folders and files on the device, so choose 'Open folder to view files' or whichever option matches this in your operating system. The computer will open a window displaying the contents of your Android device storage in the same way as a folder on your own PC or on an external storage device.

5. Locate the files you want to copy from your PC in a separate window. Select and copy them by pressing 'Ctrl' and 'C' or right-clicking and choosing 'Copy.' Go back to the window with your Android device content displayed. You can copy files to the directory which appears first if you like, as this is normally the root directory of your Android storage card. However, you can alternatively browse to another directory within this until you find the location you want. Paste the files by pressing 'Ctrl' and 'V' or right-clicking and choosing 'Paste.'

6. Disconnect your Android device from your PC. In most versions of Windows, you can do this by clicking the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon displayed in your system tray, normally at the bottom right of your screen. Alternatively, you can browse to the device in Windows Explorer, or Nautilus if you're on Linux, ejecting the device by right-clicking it and choosing 'Eject' or 'Safely Remove Drive.'

How to Install a Tablet PC Operating System

Prepare Your Tablet PC for a New Operating System

1. Ensure that your Tablet PC meets the requirements of the operating system that you plan to install. If you do not know the specifications of your Tablet PC, you can view the system information in the Control Panel or check your Tablet PC's manual.

2. Create a backup copy of your files. When you install a new operating system, there is a chance that all your data will be lost.

3. You can create a backup copy on removable media such as a CD or DVD, a network folder or external hard drive.

Upgrade Your Tablet PC With a New Operating System

4. Insert the operating system CD into the CD drive of your Tablet PC. Depending on the operating system that you are installing, this may launch the installation procedure. If it does not, you can manually launch the installation by navigating to the 'Setup' file.

5. Follow the instructions that appear on your Tablet PC during the setup process. In addition to providing information such as account names and passwords, you may also need to enter a registration key for the operating system.

6. Ensure that all of your files are still present on your Tablet PC. If any files are missing, use your backup copy to restore them on your Tablet PC.

Top Ten Kindle Tips

Install non-Amazon Apps

You don't have to limit yourself to the apps in Amazon's app store on your Kindle Fire. By downloading a file manager from the Amazon app store and connecting your device to a computer, you can install any Android application that comes in an APK package. After downloading a file manager, enable 'Allow Installation of Applications' in your device's settings, copy the application's APK file from your computer to the device and then open the APK file from within the file manager. Select 'Yes' when you see a dialogue box asking you if you want to install the software in the package, and your Kindle will install your sideloaded app.

Wi-Fi Restrictions

The Kindle Fire's Wi-Fi connectivity and Silk Web browser are among the device's major selling points. But, if you plan on letting your children read on the device, you may not want them roaming freely on the Internet or subjecting your credit card to an e-book buying spree. To put your mind at ease, password protect your Kindle's Wi-Fi connection. When you tap the 'Quick Settings' icon and scroll until you see the 'Restrictions' menu item, you will see an option for 'Password Protected Wi-Fi.' Enabling this option causes your Kindle to require your password before the device will connect to the Internet.

ITunes Music Through Amazon

If you have a large music library with iTunes, Apple's software will not let you sync your songs with the Kindle the same way it does for Apple devices. This is not a problem, as you can stream these songs to your Kindle Fire through your Amazon Cloud Drive. Download Amazon's MP3 uploader and use the software's map of your iTunes library to pick which songs you want to upload to your cloud drive, then press the “Music” icon on your Kindle Fire to start streaming any of the songs you uploaded.

Secret Caps Lock

The Kindle Fire's on-screen keyboard comes with a 'Shift' key, but not a caps lock. This implies that if you want to type a string of capital letters in a row, you have to keep pressing shift before each letter. This is not the case. Double-tapping the “Shift” key engages caps lock mode, so you can keep typing in capital letters. When you want to go back to lower-case letters, press the “Shift” button once.

Be Wary of Your Private Browsing

Normally, when you establish a secure connection with a website all the data is encrypted between your computer and the website's server. This is not always the case with the Kindle Fire. As part of its effort to boost the speed of its Silk browser, Amazon at times uses its own servers as an intermediary between your Kindle and the website you are visiting. In the context of secure connections, this means that Amazon's servers will be processing unencrypted versions of your data before re-encrypting it and sending it back to your Kindle Fire. Keep this in mind before sending particularly sensitive data over a secure connection with your Kindle Fire.

Personal Documents Service

If you want to put a document on your Kindle and don't mind Amazon's servers processing it, you can save yourself the time of connecting and manually sideloading it from your computer by emailing it to your device through Amazon's Kindle Personal Documents Service. After you log in to Amazon's 'Manage Your Kindle' page, click 'Personal Document Settings,' then make sure your email account is listed under the 'Approved Document E-mail List.' After that, you can email documents to 'my-account-name@free.kindle.com' and Amazon will load them onto your Kindle at no cost the next time your device has a Wi-Fi connection. You can also have this service convert your document into a Kindle e-book by setting the email's subject field to 'translate.'

Text to Speech in The Car

If you have a long daily commute in your car, audio books can be a nice way to keep up on your reading and pass the time during your drive. The Kindle's text-to-speech function enables you to turn any English language e-book or document into an audio book. If your car's stereo has an audio jack, you can run a 3.5mm male-to-male cable from the jack to your Kindle and listen to the book through your car's sound system. The text-to-voice will not sound as good as a voice actor, but it is cheaper than buying an audio book.

Pay For No Ads

Amazon gives you the option to buy its E Ink screen readers at a discount if you agree to let Amazon put advertisements, which it calls 'Special Offers,' on your screen saver and homepage. If you've decided that it’s worth paying the money you saved to get rid of the advertisements, you can unsubscribe to the Special Offers program and your device will no longer display the ads. You can do this through Amazon's 'Manage Your Kindle' page by clicking on the 'Edit' button under the Special Offers column. After you follow the on-screen directions to unsubscribe, Amazon will charge your credit card the difference in price between your model's Special Offers price and its regular price.

Selecting Long Passages

The Kindle Fire gives you an easy touch screen interface for selecting passages of text to copy or highlight, but sometimes the passage you are trying to select goes beyond the device's current page. If you are viewing the page in portrait orientation, you can solve this problem by turning it so the device will switch to the landscape orientation. This reorientation will display text that goes beyond the bottom of your portrait orientation page, without clearing your selection. You can then continue to drag the selection arrow from where it left off across the remainder of the desired passage.

Music Controls

The Kindle Fire lets you play music from your library while you are reading or working in other apps, but does not have any buttons to pause your current track or skip to a new one while you are outside the music app. Luckily, you don't have to leave what you're doing and switch over to the audio app to control your music. When you press the gear icon on the Kindle Fire's menu bar, you will see the current track, a slider bar for the song's progress and pause and skip buttons below the standard settings menu items. After you pause or skip to a different track, press the gear icon again to get back to what you were doing.

Different Kinds of Pawn Shops

Electronic Pawn Shops

Electronic pawn shop might carry any type of electronic technology such as stereo systems, game consoles and digital devices. Most of these pawn shops have only up-to-date technology, because technology changes frequently. A pawn shop might give a person a loan in return for an electronic device as collateral. If people do not retrieve their items, the shop has the right to sell them after a certain period.

Musical Instrument

New musical instruments typically are expensive. Bu musicians can find bargains at pawn shops that focus on instruments. Instruments found in pawn shops can include violins, guitars, flutes, drums and clarinets. Sometimes a pawn shop purchases the instruments from a willing seller. Or the owner might have left the instrument behind as collateral for a loan.

Jewelry Pawn Shops

Some pawn shops carry a variety of jewelry including sterling silver, gold and diamonds. However, some pawn shops specialize, carrying only gold or only diamonds. These shops get their inventory from people who sold their jewelry or who got a loan from the shop and never came back. Items in a jewelry-focused pawn shop include diamond rings, wedding bands, gold necklaces and gold bracelets.

Televisions and Computers

Some pawn shops stock computers and televisions, usually only the most recent types. So people who want to pawn a large, box-like computer or a tube television are out of luck. Some items in these pawn shops include flat-screen monitors, laptops, printers, tablets and wireless printers. People who want a flat-screen television or laptop might find a bargain at a pawn shop.

How to Draw Mona Lisa in Paint

Outline

1. Print your Mona Lisa reference and place it next to your computer.

2. Double-click on the MS Paint icon and open the File menu. Select 'New.' Select the brush tool by clicking on it. If the color is not black, click on the black color swatch in the color palette.

3. Mouse-over the top-center of the canvas. Move the cursor down slightly and click on the left-button of the mouse. Draw the cursor in the shape of a long, vertical oval and release the left-button. This creates the oval-shaped head.

4. Paint a rounded, vertical line about two fifths of the way down the face, on the left side. Move your mouse to the right-edge of the line and draw a rounded, vertical line that is half as wide as the top line. Connect these two lines with a rounded horizontal line to finish the eye. Move your mouse to the right until it is about two-thirds of the way from the left side of the face. Draw another eye of equal proportions.

5. Move the cursor so that is one-quarter of the way up from the bottom of the face. Draw a vertical mouth that is rounded with a curve that points down. The line should be just to the left of the left-side of the face and should extend from the left-edge of the left eye to just past the left-edge of the right eye. Draw a flat V-shape for the nose.

6. Place the cursor on the top-left corner of the head. Draw the outline of the hair extending to the right side of the head. The hair is about one-fifth as wide as the face. Continue this line until it falls past the chin, to the end of the neck. The hair should extend to the right slightly as it moves down. At the end of the hair, draw a wide V. The other side of this V should touch the bottom-right corner of the face. Draw the left side of the hair. Draw a line that curves outwards and stops just past the neck.

7. Draw the shoulders. The left shoulder extends from the neck, falling in a diagonal line for about two-thirds of the width of the head. At this point, it falls into a vertical line. Draw the right shoulder on the other side. Draw the neckline of the dress. The neckline curves from the bottom of the right-shoulder to the middle of the left-shoulder.

Color

8. Click on the Bucket tool and select a peach-colored swatch. Click on the areas of skin--the face and neck. Add low lights to the face by clicking on the 'Spray' tool and clicking on the tan swatch. Move your mouse to the right edge of the face. Tap the left-button of the mouse lightly. Move the mouse up the edge slightly and tap the button again. Add these low lights to both edges of the face and the top of the neck.

9. Color the hair brown by selecting the Bucket tool and selecting the dark-brown color swatch. Click on the hair. Add a part by clicking on the tan swatch and selecting the brush tool. Draw a part though the middle of the hair, in line with the nose. Click on the medium-brown swatch and select the spray tool. Spray medium brown near the party using a light touch.

10. Click on the paint tool and select a white swatch. Color the whites of the eyes using the brush.

11. Draw the gold of the dress by selecting a gold swatch. Draw a curved line that extends from the right-shoulder to the right-edge of the dress.

12. Click on a dark-green color. Extend the lines of the dress to the bottom of the canvas using the Brush tool. Select the bucked tool and fill in the dress with green. Select a light green color and click on the background. This gives the background a light green hue.

How to Convert Serial to USB

Converting Serial to USB

1. Obtain a serial-to-USB adapter. These are found easily at your local computer store and online. Make sure the serial end of the adapter meets your needs--it should be either male or female. Most users will probably benefit from a male serial adapter, as it emulates the serial port normally found on the rear of the computer.

2. Install the proper drivers. Because serial is an older technology, it is not necessarily instantly compatible with USB. If your serial device needs drivers to operate, install them now. If your USB to serial converter cable came with drivers, download or install them now according to the included instructions.

3. Attach your device. Plug in the adapter to a free USB port and the other end to the serial connector from your serial device. If the drivers are installed properly, your operating system should detect it right away, just like a USB device.

4. Test your device. Assuming the device is properly communicating with the computer via the USB port, turn on and use your serial device as you normally would.

How to Troubleshoot Android Apps

1. Pull the battery out of your Android phone if an app freezes while you are using it. Reinsert the battery after one minute. Replace the battery cover and restart the phone. Launch the app again.

2. Check whether your phone's data connection is active if the app is data-dependent. Touch “Menu,” and then tap “Settings.” Touch “Wireless & Networks,” and then tap “Mobile Networks.” If the “Data Enabled” field is not checked, touch it to enable it. Launch the app again.

3. Verify that the app is up-to-date. Touch “Market” from the phone's home screen. Press “Menu” on your phone and touch “My Apps.” Scroll down to the “Not Installed” section. If the app has an available update, touch the app. Tap “Update,” and then touch “Accept and Download.” Wait for the update to complete, then launch the app.

4. Uninstall and reinstall the app. Tap “Menu,” and then touch “Settings.” Touch “Manage Applications,” and then tap “All.” Touch the app that is not working, and then tap “Uninstall.” Reinstall the app from the Android Market and launch the app again.

How to Block Cell Phone Tracking

1. Choose 'E911' in the 'location' menu on your phone. On some phones you may need to enable privacy mode instead. These settings will allow GPS tracking only in response to a 911 call, which is required by law. Menus are different on all phones so you may need to consult the owner's manual if you cannot find location settings.

2. Check for physical GPS tracking devices that may be attached to your phone. Look under the battery, in the battery compartment, and on the outside of the phone. Remove anything that did not come in the original sealed box or that you did not attach yourself.

3. Remove any tracking software that is installed on your handset. If anyone has ever had your phone for even a few minutes, he may have installed a third-party application that allows your phone to be tracked. Research any programs that you cannot identify.

4. Contact your cellular phone company and inquire about any tracking or monitoring features that have been enabled on your account. Remove those features if there are any and set a new password to prevent unauthorized access.

5. Remove the battery from your phone. This is the only way to guarantee the phone is untraceable. Cell phone towers can still triangulate your position to some degree when the phone is on, and 'roving bug' software can make your phone a surveillance device even when the power is off.

The Effects of Rooting an Evo 4G

Added permisions

Rooting an Android phone is all about permissions. Like other Linux-based operating systems, Android uses different types of elevated permissions in order to grant and restrict access to certain parts of the Android operating system. When you root the EVO 4G, you are given superuser permissions. This means you have total control of the Android operating system on the EVO 4G. Superuser permissions give you access to many different features that otherwise would not be available on an unrooted EVO 4G.

System Access

System access is useful for people who like altering the many ways in which Android operates. You can remove any features you want from Android, making the EVO 4G perform and act the way you want it. Above all else, system access gives you access to changing the theme of the Android operating system. The entire Android theme is held in a single file called 'framework-res.apk.' With system access you can install alternate framework files that will completely change the look and feel of Android on the EVO 4G.

Applications

When you search on the Android Market, you may come across certain applications that say 'for root' or 'root users' at the end of the application name. This means that you can only use this application if you have rooted your phone. The open-source nature of Android means these rooted applications can be purchased and sold right on the official Android market. These applications include, but are not limited to Android launchers, tethering and theming the EVO 4 G and other rooted Android devices.

Overclocking

This is one of the most beneficial aspects of rooting an Android device such as the EVO 4G. Overclocking allows you to push the EVO 4G's processor to its maximum amount. This makes the EVO 4G much faster and allows you to play HD games with little to no lagging. There is a drawback, of course. Overclocking usually wreaks havoc on the EVO 4G and other Android device's battery power. If you have an extra battery, it is best to keep it handy if you are overclocking your EVO 4G.

Android Apps That Can Be Moved to an SD Card

App Storage

When you download an app to your Android device, your device saves the app saves to its own built-in memory, not the SD card. Originally Android devices couldn't move apps to any storage cards, but updates to the system now let you transfer them to the SD card, which frees up valuable space in the phone's memory to keep the phone operating smoothly and to allow room for you to install additional apps.

Moving an App

To move an app, tap the 'apps' button, then 'Settings,' then 'Applications,' then 'Manage applications.' If you want to move a specific app, you could locate it in the alphabetized lists in the 'Downloaded' or 'All' tabs, or if you want to move multiple apps, you can tap the 'SD card' tab and view every app that capable of transfering to the SD card. No matter which tab you view, just tap on one of the apps to view information about it; then tap the 'Move to SD' button to transfer it to the storage card. Application developers decide whether or not their apps can be stored on an SD card, and some apps cannot be moved to an SD card. If you view an app that cannot transfer to the card, the move button will be unavailable.

App Storage Limitations

Unfortunately there's no simple way to know if you can store an app on the SD card without downloading the app and attempting to transfer it to the card. You can look for the information on the Android Market in the app's 'Overview' section or in the user reviews, but often you won't find information about storing the app on the SD card, so you may have to download the app and then try to move it. You should only need to spend a few moments moving an app, though depending on its size, your device may need a few seconds to transfer everything to the card.

Common SD Card Apps

Since you can find hundreds of thousands of Android apps in the Android Market and in other places, a full list of apps that you can store on an SD card would be enormous, but you may be interested in knowing about some of the more popular apps that have this option. Apps that do transfer to the SD card include all three Angry Birds games (the original, Seasons and Rio), Cut the Rope, Fruit Ninja and the ubiquitous Jewels. Many productivity apps have the SD card storage option, including some of the popular browser alternatives like Mozilla Firefox, SkyFire and Dolphin, as well as apps like PayPal and Adobe Reader.
