How to Transfer a Word File to Android

1. Turn on the Wi-Fi or 3G service on your Android, and then tap your 'Android Marketplace' app.

2. Tap the search icon and enter 'Word Documents' in the search box. Tap each of the results to read more about the app. QuickOffice and Documents to Go are both highly effective apps with multiple editing and layout options for Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. Office Suite Viewer is a free app that lets you read only, plus it has an upgradeable pro version and a free pro version trial if you need to edit documents on your Android as well. Each of these options also includes a PDF viewer.

3. Tap to purchase and install the desired app.

4. Return to the Android Market if you use a cloud storage service for your documents such as Dropbox or SugarSync. Browse to your service's app in the Market, and download and install the Android version of the software for free.

5. Send your document to yourself via email, or place it into your cloud storage files on your computer.

6. Launch your email if you emailed the file, and then tap the attachment to download. Your Android will present an 'Open In' selection screen. Tap your new Word-compatible app, and the file will download onto your Android and open in that app.

7. Launch your cloud storage app if you placed the file in the cloud for transfer. Browse through your folders to find the document, and then tap it. Select your Word-compatible app from the 'Open In' options, and your Android will download the document to the appropriate app and open it.
