How to Repair Windows XP Pro

1. Boot from a DOS prompt and choose 'Most Recent Good Configuration' from the list of options. Press the 'F8' key during start-up to access a DOS prompt.

2. Select the 'System Restore Option' to restore Windows XP to a previous time when the system was working properly. Many people may turn this particular feature off to improve system performance.

3. Use a previous registry configuration. Registry cleaners, such as Regseeker, save a backup of the system registry that can easily be restored (see link in Resources).

4. Use the Windows XP Installation Disk to reinstall the operating system. Running a repair from the installation disk will replace current system files with the original operating system files.

5. Restore the system from a back-up disk. Many people don't bother to make a backup of their system, but it can come in handy when there are problems with the operating system.
