How to Make Push Work Better on a TouchDown Android

1. Enable push in the TouchDown app, if it's not already enabled or was somehow disabled. From the main screen of the TouchDown app, touch the red button that says 'Push Disabled.' Tap 'Yes' to confirm that you want to enable push.

2. Archive old emails through Outlook. This will reduce the number of messages that the Exchange Server is trying to push to TouchDown and help to improve the performance. Launch Outlook and click the 'File' tab on the far left. Click 'Cleanup Tools' from the list on the left and choose 'Archive.'

3. Click the radio button next to 'Archive all folders according to their AutoArchive settings' and click 'OK.' Wait for the archive process to complete and then attempt to use TouchDown on your Android device again. If the problems persist, you can manually archive large folders.

4. Repeat the process for accessing the Archive dialog box, but select the radio button for 'Archive this folder and all subfolders' from the top. Click the folder you want to archive from the list below. You can expand the different areas, such as your Inbox, to see the sub-folders. Typically, you'll want to archive a folder with large emails, such as those containing attachments, that you don't need to access on your Android device. Select multiple folders by holding down the 'Ctrl' key while clicking the folders. When you're done, click 'OK.'
