Syncing an EVO 4G With Swype

1. Download the Swype .apk to your computer. Save the file to your desktop.

2. Turn on the HTC Evo. Press the Home key. Press the Menu key. Tap “Settings.” Tap “Applications.” Select “Unknown sources.”

3. Plug the smaller end of the USB cable than came with the Evo into the phone’s USB port. Plug the other end of this cable into an available USB port on the computer. The Connect to PC screen will appear on the phone. Tap “HTC Sync.” Tap “Done.”

4. Launch the HTC Sync application on your computer.

5. Click “Application Installer.” Check the box next to “Android OS installer file (apk).” Click “OK.” Click “Next.”

6. Click “Browse.” Browse to your computer’s desktop. Select the Swype .apk file. Click “Open.” Click “Next.” Click “Finished.”

7. Follow the prompts on the phone to install Swype on your Evo.

8. Press the Home key on your phone. Press the Menu key. Tap “Settings.” Tap “Language & keyboard.” Check the box next to “Swype.” Select “OK.”
