How to Put an Android on an HTC Pure



1. Connect the HTC Pure to your computer by using the USB data transfer cable that came with the phone. Select to mount the phone as a drive.

2. Open the Web browser on your computer and insert this address in the navigation bar: sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/2010-02-20/. Click the 'haretinstall.zip' link to start downloading the file. Save it to your computer's hard disk drive.

3. Use WinRAR to extract the archive in a folder on your hard disk. A folder named Andboot will be created. It contains six files: haret.exe, zImage, initrd.gz and default.txt.

4. Use the computer's file browser to copy the Andboot folder and paste it in the root of the HTC's microSD card. This means that the folder must not be under any other folder. Verify if all six files were successfully transferred to the SD card.

5. Insert this link in the Web browser's navigation bar: filecrop.com/1.25-v32kernel.zip.html. Click on the '1.0-v32kernel.zip' link to start downloading the file. Save it to your computer.

6. Go to where you saved the ZIP file, right-click on it and select to rename it. Name it 'androidinstall.tar' and hit Enter. Note that the '.tar' extension must be appended. Copy this new androidinstall.tar file to the Andboot folder on the SD card.

7. Disconnect the HTC Pure from the computer and open the smartphone's file browser. Navigate to the SD card and enter the Andboot folder. Tap on the 'haret.exe' executable to run it.

8. Select option one in the first screen to start installing the Android OS. Tap 'Yes' to wipe and install the system. Your Microsoft Mobile system will not be affected. Tap 'Yes' to wipe and install the data. Your Microsoft Mobile system will not be affected.

9. Tap on option nine to finish the installation and reboot the HTC Pure. The Android operating system will start. It will run only until the next reboot. You have to run the Haret.exe file whenever you want to run Android.
